About Sean Cook
Credentials, Certifications, and Affiliations
Effective career guidance should be grounded in more than opinions. My work combines graduate-level training in counseling and career development, professional coach training, years of higher education experience, and ongoing engagement with the career services profession.

Education
My academic background provides the foundation for many of the counseling, communication, research, and career-development principles that continue to shape my work with clients.

Master of Education (M.Ed.), Counseling & Guidance Services. Concentration: Student Affairs in Higher Education
My graduate education strengthened my understanding of counseling, career development, assessment, communication, and methods to help people make thoughtful decisions about their futures.
That foundation influences the way I approach career coaching today. I don't begin with a résumé template. I begin by understanding the person, the career story, the goal, and the audience we need to reach.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science.
Through my undergraduate education, I developed the research, analytical thinking, writing, and persuasive communication skills that continue to play an important role in résumé strategy, career storytelling, LinkedIn development, and interview preparation.
Professional Coaching Certification

Life Purpose and Career Coach
I completed professional coach training through the Life Purpose Institute's Life Coach Certification Program and earned certification as a Life Purpose & Career Coach.
The training expanded the coaching methods I use to help clients clarify goals, identify strengths and priorities, work through career transitions, make informed decisions, and create practical plans for moving forward.
In my practice, coaching complements the strategic work I do in résumé writing, LinkedIn development, interview preparation, and job-search consulting.
How I Apply My Coaching Training
I use coaching techniques to help clients:
- Clarify what they want next in their careers
- Identify strengths, priorities, and transferable skills
- Examine career options and potential transitions
- Recognize obstacles that may be holding them back
- Build confidence in the value they offer employers
- Turn broad goals into practical next steps
- Prepare to communicate their experience with greater clarity and conviction
The goal isn't simply to produce a stronger résumé. It is to help clients make better career decisions and present themselves more effectively throughout the hiring process.
